my mom gave me some birthday bucks that i've been saving for a treat for myself. so here is my question to you: do i really want these shiny red vegan boots? or do i not?

doilies. doilies. doilies.

have you even seen anything better than these reusable cake doilies? and don't you love the word "doilies"? these are new at ikea, and in my price range, too (i.e. less than two dollars):

first day of school

only an hour of school today for boo -- just right, as far as he's concerned! and yes, it's weird not sending bean off to her school today. speaking of which, she told me that the colloquial german for "hippie" is "muesli." isn't that adorable?

still no word from orientationland... we are assuming this means all is well. m did return home last night. boo and i awoke at seven a.m. despite still being on our summertime schedule.

finally, while i have an absolutely gorgeous and stylish cover for MYphone, a gift from my mom, i can't help coveting this expensive wooden one:

me, too

yeah, i want an iphone too, just like everybody else. in fact, i'd love to be the first in my technologically savvy family to have one. then, when we all meet up at the jersey shore in a couple of weeks, i'd get a friend to call me so i could just casually pull my phone out and be like, "oh, this? it's just my iphone."

more realistically, maybe someone could make me an iphone cake like this one!

summer shoes

i never thought i would say this, but i kind of want a pair of these, um, crocs. i have been so vehemently anti-crocs ever since they started taking over the world, but these are actually cute, and vegan. maybe an alternative to my standard summer flip-flops (less likely to be swept away in a gullywasher, no?).

covetous

i sorta want a pair of these bizarre russian boots. yeah, they're weird looking, but they were "designed by russian peasants 300 years ago." and they're supposed to be really warm, too. probably even warmer if you wear pants with them.
