i spent the day with this boy, who not only fulfilled my dreams of owning a squirrel buster bird feeder, but also pretty much spent the entire day with me. we had a lovely lunch at silly's, where we ate sweet potato fries, shared a milkshake, and i consumed 3/4 of the drippiest wrap ever in the history of the world. we sat outside! it was so lovely.
and also, we lazily watched hours of freaks and geeks episodes, with and without commentary. that show still makes me laugh out loud -- it was so fun to watch it and laugh all afternoon with my boy.

That sounds like the loveliest Mother's Day ever. Silly's + Freaks & Geeks: I'm writing it down as a reminder for when someone asks me what I want for whatever holiday it is where I might get something.
before we went to silly's i also bought myself two daisy plants, dug holes in the garden, and planted them. so yeah, digging in the dirt, a milkshake at silly's, and freaks and geeks = perfection.
Daisies! Good grief, Liz, if I didn't actually know you were a real person, I would think you were someone mocking me, that I am a "type." "Look, Julie, you're not the only one who likes sweet potato fries and drippy wraps at Silly's, daisies, and Freaks & Geeks."
The episode where Ken takes tuba girl to the laser show always makes me cry with its sweetness.
yeah, we're meant to be friends, julie. we're going to have to do more about that in real (rather than virtual) life soon. AND, yes, that episode is so sweet. the magic of freaks and geeks is the balance between sweet and funny. perfect. isaac and i were lamenting the fact that they couldn't go on for one more season. in the commentary, there's a lot of talk about what would've happened next (i.e. bill would make the basketball team, sam would become "popular," lindsay and daniel would hook up, etc.). it's tragic that it was stopped in its tracks!
I'm reading this a day late, but it sounds like an absolutely perfect day! And I'm glad Mark spent the day with his mother!
