kind of a book review

i kind of loved this book. it's wordy, brainy, philosophical, full of pleasing sentences. i experienced a mild dismay with it towards the end, for non-specific reasons. but mostly i loved reading it, especially the fantastic coincidence of the fact that moments after talking to bean and m, who were in new york this weekend touring barnard college (she LOVED it), and learning that they were eating breakfast at the hungarian pastry shop, i happened upon this sentence:

I found myself standing in front of the Hungarian Pastry Shop, in front of its fogged windows into which no child had yet traced patterns.
