thankfully

i've got a lot to be thankful for, including:

my family
barack obama
my new pellet stove
living in a place where we can go for a thanksgiving-morning walk on the beach:

the apple pie i baked yesterday, using this (very non-vegan) crust recipe/tutorial. it was the most gorgeous pie i've ever had anything to do with, and it tasted pretty good, too.

i also made a tofurkey, veggie gravy, and marinated brussels sprouts. we piled it all in a big box and took it over to the dancer's house, where we feasted with her family. the only element missing from the festivities was, of course, our bean. however, knowing that she is happy and safe and discovering new things every single day (also, that she's cooking her own feast today with another american afs girl), her adventure is yet another thing i have to be thankful for this year. i hope everyone reading this had a lovely, warm thanksgiving!

nothing too serious, the dressing was just a little weird and they were really overcooked. but martha's host father ate them.
