bean and i took a walk to standard bakery for a couple of raisin-pecan rolls yesterday, and en route we surveyed the endless freakshow that is congress street. i'm sorry, but portland is inhabited by way weirder people than i've ever seen in, say, new york. the thing that made me laugh was that after a succession of six or seven people who might very well have been screaming, it's not like you have to tear your face off to north carolina, the first "normal" person to pass us was carrying a huge stack of purple flyers which said seventh annual portland reptile expo. which seemed less weird, but only a little.
