in a completely unrelated massachusetts trip today, bean, boo, isaac's friend puck, and i visited the peabody essex museum in salem. the highlight of the museum is a house from southern rural china that was taken apart, sent to the u.s. and reconstructed, complete with posters of chairman mao from the 1960's, shoes, bicycles, furniture, and beautifully carved windows and bedframes.
this buddha, from the japanese art gallery, spoke to bean. not literally. i mean, she really liked it.
afterward, we went to trader joe's, where i genuflected and then attempted to restrain myself from purchasing one of everything. i got the nicest orangey smelling lotion, snacks, cheapest vitamins in the world, granola, and a chocolate bar for later.
