Sixteenth

I got a beautiful, newsy, handwritten letter in the mail today from my far-flung friend Melissa. I swear, once upon a time I was the queen of letter writing, but I can't seem to get myself back in the habit, not even to a sweet, dear friend like that Checkout Girl, not even when there are pages of words swirling around inside my head that I would like to say to her. Having said that, though, I actually plan to do it, and I suspect that once I start I'll have no trouble persevering, since that's my word of the month and all.

Here's what Gus looks like when he's leaping into bed with Mark. That tail, right? You should feel it--it's so hard to brush, as though his body is made from wool and the tail from some man made fiber. Rayon? It's so funny. And if you feel it, the actual tail inside is like, corkscrewed, all wonky. Though my favorite thing about his tail is that when he's sad or worried, instead of tucking it between his legs, he just lets in drag on the ground behind him.

Okay, off to roast some cauliflower, off to imbibe a bit of caffeine, because we have Saturday plans to play a game and watch a show with pals, and it will be much more fun if I don't fall asleep.

Ciao! xo

I will love you whether you write back or not. But pretend you don't know that. :-)
