Not Spring

Things making me happy right now:

Birds.

Gus.

This guy.

This sweet boy and his goofy cat.

The girl on the left, though she's far(ish) away, makes me happy every day (the girl on the right is her lovely friend Linda, from whom I stole this photo off the Book of Faces).

Also, I love my new electric kettle. I love my pile of library books. I love all the great interviews with Mike White that are on the Internets right now, and I adore his show with Laura Dern, Enlightened. I am loving a bunch of podcasts that my mom recommended, especially the Slate Culture Gabfest and the NPR Pop Culture Happy Hour.

I am not loving how dark it is at six o'clock in the morning, thanks to daylight savings, though I am loving how light it is at six pm. I am not loving my contrarian reaction yesterday to everyone on the Book of Faces exclaiming "It's Spring!" and "Spring has sprung!" just because the sun came out. Cause...it was 39 degrees yesterday by my calculations, and it was March tenth, and my front yard was full of dirty snow. Not spring. Not quite.

I'm just saying--you could come visit me. It's warmer than 39.

I was just thinking about you, and how in your part of the world you get a true spring (the only thing I ever miss about being south of the Maxon-Dixon line, honestly). Things must be flowering, etc!!
