fear not for the future

magic: chatting on skype a couple of days ago with zoë and max across a distance of more than 8,000 miles. to them, it was early in the morning and around 75 degrees. they were in a cafe open to the street, and we could hear weird bird noises in the background, and motorbikes going past. where we were, sitting inside at our dining room table, it was dark, cold, evening, with piles of snow on the ground.

yeah, so much a thing from the future. i'm sorry your mom was quarantined for christmas (that sounds like a very special lifetime movie, or a horrible song, actually). i keep thinking how lucky we are that we periodically can be in touch with z. in these futuristic ways, rather than waiting for a postcard or something!

The girls are always wanting to skype with their Dad on the weeks he travels for work...

It's super weird and uncomfortable! The one time Maxine insisted Jeremiah and I sit with her while she talked to her Dad...we couldn't tell her no cause he was already on the screen.

Definitely sitcom fodder.
