bean

she had the best birthday of her entire life last week -- apparently, they really know how to treat a birthday girl in germany (sing to her, lift her chair in the air and parade her around, shower her with gifts, etc). it is vicariously thrilling to hear about her experiences, see her photos, and read her blog, especially when she is happy! there have absolutely been ups and downs, and the downs are pretty hard, but i think the ups are starting to make up for it. i miss her like crazy, but i am constantly amazed that she dove into this adventure.

this photograph documents her meeting up with her friend davy rothbart in stuttgart a few weeks ago; this was her first connection with a person from her past life in germany. even odder is that she now has a picture of her host mother, davy, and davy's sword swallower friend.

I believe that is the same sword swallower that E & I saw with the Found tour in Durham. They said they he had just shown up at an event in West Virginia and had been tagging along with them for a couple of days! I wonder if he also ate glass?! Oh, and there was that thing he did with his tongue and a mousetrap...

yyyeah, i'm just as glad i've never seen the sword swallower. that kind of stuff gives me the heebie jeebies. i do like seeing "regina" and "sword swallower" in the same sentence, though!
