m is now on his way back home after dropping bean off at her orientation in washington d.c. it still all feels strangely unreal to me. he said they had fun in baltimore and that she was in great spirits. she gets to stay at a pretty swank hotel for three nights, getting orientated and watching german films and addressing members of congress. or their young staffers, anyway. and that's all i know: she has a few phone cards, generous gifts from friends, so we may or may not hear from her by telephone before she leaves the continent on friday...
boo and i broke out of our mutual stupor today and took a long walk, saw a movie, got a coffee together, checked out some books at the library (more mysteries for my late-night reading marathons, and 1984 for boo), ran into and chatted with some friends, and even took ourselves out to lunch! tomorrow's his last day of summer freedom before school starts.
