i've been watching the thin man movies again, one after another, thanks to my mom and her friend greg. i'm a little obsessed with them! today i'm on number three, another thin man, which features nick and nora charles's brand new baby, little nicky. the following exchange made me think of david and ellen and little rufus (and miles, their trusty, asta-like sidekick):
tough guy (peering into car driven by nick -- nora, nicky, and asta are in the back seat): what's the idea of the kid?
nick: well, we have a dog. and he was lonesome. that was the idea, wasn't it, mommy?
