some people are so ridiculous (such as those obnoxious homeschooling parents,) but the "dumbledore is gay" article is awesome.

I vote for Sweeden. I haven't been there but I like the Sweedes I've met. I think Iceland would be fun but it is soooo isolated (with a total population of 300,000, the whole country is just a little bit bigger than metro Portland). Sweeden would be closest to other stuff in Europe. I am sure Finland would be cool too! In either case, you should rent the original TV show, The Kingdom.

(by the way The Kingdom takes place in Denmark but one of the main characters is Sweedish)

(this is not actually margot, this is her mom)

ooh, that show was so good. creepy. but if she goes to iceland, she can live with the fairies. not to mention christmas with the jolasveinarnir:

"The number of Yule Lads has varied throughout the centuries but now they are consistently thirteen. The number 13 was first seen in a poem in the 18th century and the names that they carry today was published in Jón Árnason’s folklore collection of 1862. Their current names are: Stekkjastaur (Sheepfold Stick), Giljagaur (Gilly Oaf), Stúfur (Shorty), Þvörusleikir (Spoon-licker), Pottasleikir (Pot-licker), Askasleikir (Bowl-licker), Hurðaskellir (Door-slammer), Skyrgámur (Skyr-glutton), Bjúgnakrækir (Sausage-pilfer), Gluggagægir (Peeper), Gáttaþefur (Sniffer), Ketkrókur (Meat-hook) and Kertasníkir (Candle-begger). As you can tell from these names, the lads are very mischievous and they have retained their unique characteristics to this day. They live in the mountains with their parents, Grýla and Leppalúði. They come to town, one by one, in the days before Christmas."

yeah, well, i dunno. i really want to go to scandinavia, but right now it sounds really dark and cold. i doubt i'll end up in italy but it sounds so nice and green right now... and they can actually grow fruits and vegetables there!
