his birthday was dark and stormy, and he had to deal with registering the new car and boring stuff like that, but bean, boo and i feted him tonight with a feast that we like to call
A Taste of Topeka!
the first course: iceberg lettuce with grated carrots, bac-os faux bacon bits, and french dressing.
from the foreground: veggie franks and beans; vegan "tuna" casserole; veggie pigs in blankets; and canned great beans. it's the food of m's childhood!
thanks, david and ellen, for providing m with some presents to open!! and such nice ones, too:
m's birthday playlist: birthday, by the beatles; happy birthday, by sufjan stevens; happy birthday, by altered images; birthday, by the sugarcubes; and unhappy birthday by the smiths. can anyone think of more songs to add to this list? it's a nice one, but it does get a little repetitive. ideally, there'd be 15-20 good songs on it.
and last, but far, far from least, cocoapuff cake. don't you wish you were here??

HAPPY BIRTHDAY M!!!!!!!!!
Happy Birthday m & l!!!
I would also have two songs by Jens Lekman: Are Birthdays Happy ("Are Birthdays Happy/or are they just a countdown death/is there need to worry that there might not be that much time left/I haven't lived my life yet") and "Happy Birthday Dear Friend Lisa" ("the jehovahs in their pulloveras" make an appearance in this song).
Also, Cibo Matto's Birthday Cake ("Shut up and eat!/Too bad, no bon appetite...Extra Sugar, extra salt/Extra Oil and MSG").
There is also Bright Eyes, Bright Eyes Happy Birthday To Me (Feb. 15) ("All eyes on the calendar/
Another year I claim of total indifference").
We're speechless at the pictures of M's feast!
oh boy, thanks to my bruddie, i now have a 12-song playlist, all ready for MY birthday tomorrow!!
