how to be the sweet and innocent kind of popular girl.
and now for neighborhood news. after living here for almost nine years, i had a neighborly exchange with an actual neighbor today when i was out "gardening": he loaned me a special tool for digging weeds out from in between bricks, and he gave me a bag of tomatoes from his garden. i'm exaggerating only a little bit. i don't think a neighbor has ever loaned me anything, and i know that no neighbor has ever given me any kind of gift, including produce.

I guess you're now officially a Maineah! And, although I didn't comment, I really loved yesterday's birthday post!
Was that the nice old man next door? Were you acting like a sweet & innocent kind of popular girl at the time? were you, for instance, wearing a pink spangly T-shirt???
What about the snow blowing neighbor?!
We've never said a complete sentence to either of our two immediate neighbors. Ellen has never seen the ones on our right, I think.
i was not wearing a pink spangly t-shirt!
no, it was a different neighbor. this morning i saw him again when i was walking the min, and we discussed the weed tool enthusiastically. he told me he'd loaned it to "holly round the corner" and "the professor." i feel like i live on gillian's island now!
that would be "gilligan's island," not "gillian's island."
you know, i actually have all of those down...except i'm not fourteen anymore! it's getting freaky!
Yeah, Miss Gliss is now TOO OLD to be a sweet & innocent kind of popular girl - what will you do with all your shoes & T-shirts? Happy Birthday, Miss G from Zoe's Mana
i love those how-tos! my favourite line from this one is, "Get a stuffed animal unicorn. That's cute."
